NEWS AND UPDATES

Phase 2 Parking Ban In Effect!

Picture
The City of Edmonton has declared a Phase 2 parking ban to go into effect January 12, 2026 at 7 a.m. The Phase 2 ban includes all residential roads.

Residential Clearing Schedule and Notifications:
While the city-wide Phase 2 parking ban is a total of two weeks, each neighbourhood will only be affected for approximately 72 hours.

As each neighbourhood is scheduled for clearing, the dates will be posted on the Roadways Snow Clearing Map. Scheduling will begin today and continue throughout the parking ban.

Yellow temporary “No parking” signs will be placed at main entrances to each neighbourhood 24-48 hours before their scheduled clearing.

For residents who have signed up for service notifications specific to addresses, these will be sent 24 hours prior to the start of clearing in that area.

During the Phase 2 Parking Ban, vehicles are prohibited from parking on residential roadways. The parking ban is in effect 24-hours-a-day as crews will be active at all hours. The parking ban will be paused on weekends to allow for parking from Friday at 7pm until Monday at 7am.

During the ban, residents may park in garages, driveways, alleys or any roadway cleared as part of the Phase 1 parking ban. This includes arterial roadways and bus routes with the white “Seasonal no parking” signs, as long as parking there is normally allowed.

Residents can resume parking on their streets once their area is completed. Check the Roadways Snow Clearing Map for the status. Subscribers to Service Notifications will receive a message when their location is completed.

Windrows & Driveways:
This residential clearing will result in an increase of windrows in front of houses, driveways and crosswalks. We will take several steps to mitigate windrow impacts:
- Within four hours of initial clearing by plow trucks, skid steers will open up a space of approximately 1.5 car widths on driveways and corner cross walks.
- The skid steers will maintain 1.5 car widths on driveways, corners and marked crosswalks; all other areas are the private properties responsibilities.
- If cars are not moved, windrows may be placed around them, and the crews will not be rescheduled to remove the windrows within the parking ban term.
- Any locations requiring a return for clean up will be prioritized through 311 notifications, if it is safe to do so.
- If there are too many vehicles left on residential roads, areas may be rescheduled or skipped in order to maintain service level for all other areas.

Enhance Traffic Safety in Westwood

Picture
Do you have traffic safety concerns? 🚗 💥 🚙

The City of Edmonton receives traffic concerns through three primary channels:
  • Inquiries to 311 made by phone, online, or through the 311 app;
  • Direct inquiries with the City Councillor for our neighbourhood, Anne Stevenson ([email protected]); and,
  • Traffic safety concerns sent to [email protected].
Westwood residents, your voice matters! Together, we can make our streets safer for everyone. Sharing your thoughts ensures that Westwood is considered for proactive measures like traffic calming infrastructure, mobile enforcement, and other traffic safety improvements.
