We had a great time hosting our public screening of Christopher Robin in partnership with City Centre Church (located in Westwood) on August 10th from 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM. Their volunteers were so wonderful and helped us out so much with delivering invitations and setting up/taking down and cleaning up the equipment for the movie night. Our BBQ starting at 7:00 PM was a particular success and we actually ran out of buns and hot dogs. Though Kevin the deacon was helpful enough to restock for us. If you want to see more events like this one (free popcorn included!) let us know on our facebook page or in the comments!

Big thanks to everyone who came out to our Summer Splash Party on August 10th from 12:00-4:00 PM. We had free popsicles, sparkle tattoos, a Mexican food truck and custom balloons! Although the weather was slightly cool, there was a decent turnout and everyone seemed to have a blast. Make sure to join us for our next event on League Day in September! For more information about the Sparkle Tattoos check out Rylla on Facebook @sparkletattoowithrylla,
and for more info about the Mexican food truck, check out Calle-Mexico on their website https://www.callemexicofoodtruck.com/ Big thanks to everybody who came out to our dog walking event! The day was one of the first this summer that was both beautiful and sunny. As such, we had a smaller turnout than expected (residents were likely doing other activities), but we appreciated everyone who came out to join in and become part of the Westwood Community Spirit! We are considering making a dog walking group a permanent addition to the programs offered by our league! There are so many pups in the neighborhood and it would be a great way to facilitate community bonding and engagement. Special thanks to Norwood Dental for providing toys and treats for our events! They are a fantastic local business that is always willing to partner up with Community Leagues.
Thanks to everyone who came out to our Lorne Larsen Park Party! The rain was a bit of a damper, but we still had a decent turnout and it was a great chance for our community members to meet and mingle with one another. A lot of people expressed interest in cooking and art programs, especially ones specialized for children. We will do our best to ensure that the needs of our community are met. Hope we will see a similar turnout at our dog walking event Saturday!
This Sunday July 7th, 2019, we will be hosting a community-wide party at Lorne Larsen Park. The beautiful green space of Westwood dedicated to the outstanding former president of Westwood Community League, Lorne Larsen (see tribute here). Pictures will be posted after event to showcase both the park, and the community whom it is currently serving.
